Design Strength

Box Section Top Rim

The big strong box section top rim provides the offal bin with its overall strength integrity.

This is incomparably stronger than an open roll over lip which gives a place for cracks to commence. Once the top lip of a bin is cracked that is generally it – irreparable. The PLAST-AX box section top rim protects you here.

Nesting Rim

Continuous nesting rim provides wall strength and facilitates empty bins being nested together.

As with all our PLAST-AX bins, the offal bins have large radiused curves that ensure the plastic flows evenly throughout the mould and results in a very strong and consistent wall thickness over the entire bin.

10mm Solid Wall

All our offal bins are designed to an 8-10mm plastic wall thickness.

This gives huge amount of impact crack resistance and generally handles well in whatever condition.

What they replace

PLAST-AX Offal bins have been steadily replacing the similar sized steel bins in food processing and by-product industries for many years now.

There were other plastic alternatives prior to PLAST-AX bins, but these didn’t really have the design strength and features required (for the harsh conditions of daily use in tanneries and abattoirs). The PLAST-AX bins have provided trucking companies and processing plants with a way of enjoying all the benefits of a plastic product without having to compromise on the strength of the old original steel bins.

Why choose this style?

All sizes in the PLAST-AX Offal Bin range nest together when empty.

Offal bins have a square footprint less than 1200mm to fit side by side on the truck deck.
Typically, offal bins are utilised to transport product from one processing plant to another, in order to achieve most efficient return freight of the empty bins for their next cycle.Alternatively, they can be used onsite to rotate into a bulk truck or hook bin rather than trucking the bins themselves.

When space is a premium, stacks of empty bins nested together reduce the overall footprint required for storage on site.

Decision Making Pointers

Bung

If it is essential to drain your product while it’s in the bin, specify a bung.

Other than that though, you’re probably better off not to have one.

The bung thread protrudes into the base of the bin and can cause product to get caught up on it. A bung shroud is an option.

You really don’t need them for cleaning the bins out – that’s beauty of going to a PLAST-AX bin that is easy to handle – just flip it on its side and hose it out.

Rotation & Height

The taller the bin is, the further away from the forks the top of the bin rotates.

This increases all the torque racking on the gear and on the fork rotation pockets themselves. It also means the forklift operator is further away from the hopper or truck in directing the flow of bin contents when emptying.

If you have a very heavy load for continual rotation empty, it follows best principles to have a low height bin, so it rotates through a smaller radius around the forks. This is where the PLAST-AX heavy duty box pallet bins come in, designed for the extreme weight of heavy wet hides in tanneries.

Graphics

Graphics options include Inedible Not for Human Consumption, along with Company Name and Numbers.

Red-banding (stripes) is no longer required for MPI purposes. Post mould graphics can be applied to the bins at any stage.

An aggressive vinyl with a high tac adhesive will improve application and longevity.

3M tape primer 94 is recommended as a surface prep.
